OUR NATION
IS OUR PEOPLE IN OUR LANDS. Our lands are the heart of the northern
boreal forest - the greatest ecosystem of mother Earth. We are
a people of the rivers and countless lakes where forest and muskeg
inhabit the ancient Shield, on Turtle Island. The Shield is more
than 3 thousand million years old. As we understand our beginnings,
so are we.
Our Nation
is our culture. Our culture is what has enabled us to survive
in our lands. We are an oral people. We listen, and we speak.
Our culture is our language. Our ancestors and elders speak to
us the wisdom of thousands of generations.
Our Nation
is part of the Cree peoples. The Crees are part of the red peoples,
one of the four peoples of the earth.
