Program 57 : Domestic Foods

This program category currently covers several initiatives. 

  1. Hot Lunch Program: Pimicikamak has taken over this program from Manitoba and Manitoba Hydro, and now fully covers the labor and food costs associated with providing healthy meals during lunch to Mikisew and ONR throughout the school year. 
  2. Domestic Fishing: Pimicikamak covers the cost of hiring fish shed workers, and paying fishermen for their catches based on a maximum quota of 500 lbs a week. 
  3. Christmas Turkey Program: Pimicikamak has taken over this program from Manitoba Hydro, and is providing the residents of Cross Lake with turkeys for Christmas. Additional items for this year include a expanded menu which includes roasts and ham. 
  4.  Alternative Foods Program: Pimicikamak did a bulk giveaway of 6500lbs of potatoes this year.
