Program 37-PWP-005 : Pimicikamak Treaty Days

Pimicikamak Treaty Days is an annual event, which commemorates the signing of Treaty 5 on September 24, 1875 between Pimicikamak people as by represented by Tepastenum and the Treaty Commissioners representing the Queen in right of Britain. The treaty represented peace and friendship between two nations. This week long celebration combines both traditional and modern sporting events and entertainment. This is a time when Pimicikamak citizens come and display their sportsmanship, comradery in the spirit of family relationships, skills and teamwork.Traditional events include canoeing, log sawing, bannock and tea boiling, traditional feasts, traditional wear competition, marathon, soccer, swimming and log throwing. §Modern sporting events include iron man, york boats races, dragon boat races, cycling, fast and slow pitch tournaments, and card games.There was nightly entertainment including square dancing, music and singing contests and bingo.
